Apple unveiled its latest flagship phone, the iPhone 14, back in September. The new phone boasts upgraded cameras and screen sizes for certain models. But along with the new phone came changes to how Apple is selling last year’s iPhone 13 across stores, including its own. The iPhone 13 base model is now $699 (down from $799) and the iPhone 13 Mini is also $100 less.
Both models start at 128GB of storage with an option to expand to either 256GB or 512GB. For the first time in Apple history, the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max offered the option to buy up to 1TB of storage. The 13 Pro and Pro Max, which were selling for $999 and $1,099, are no longer available since customers have the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max to choose from.
Still, the base iPhone 13 model includes upgrades from the iPhone 12, including a larger battery, more storage space, a new A15 Bionic processor and iOS 15. There are some great deals on iPhone 13 that you might want to check out if you need a phone right now and don’t mind grabbing the second latest version.
The best out of the original four models, at least for many Apple users, was the base iPhone 13 model.

The iPhone 13 has solid upgrades from the iPhone 12, even though it’s not too different from the previous model. It has a squared-off design just like the 12 and supports 5G and MagSafe charging. The camera on this model is on par with 2021’s top-of-the-line iPhone 12 Pro Max, and its battery life is four-and-a-half hours more than the iPhone 12.

Apple is offering up to $650 in credit when you trade in an eligible device. The service is called Apple Trade In and the steps to get it are described on the Apple website. First, you’ll answer some questions to get an estimated trade-in value. You can then finance your phone and Apple will apply the value as credit, or you can pay the full amount of the phone and they’ll credit your payment method after receiving the old phone. To get the new iPhone 13 and get up to $650 with a trade-in, you need to give up an iPhone 13 Pro Max that’s in good condition. But say you have an iPhone 12 Pro Max that’s in great condition; you’ll get a $480 credit. That makes your new iPhone 13 just $219.
AT&T offers trade-ins on their website, but if you want to get a new iPhone through Apple and finance it through AT&T, you can get $550 in bill credits. For a base model with 128GB, you can pay as little as $5 per month for three years after the bill credits. That price goes up by $5 with the 256GB phone and $10 for the 512GB phone.
For existing Sprint customers (before they were bought by T-Mobile), you can trade in an iPhone XR or newer and get an extra $200 trade-in credit from Sprint on top of your $140 Apple trade-in credit. Where Apple will give you $650 in trade-in for an iPhone 13 Pro Max, you’ll get $200 more from Sprint, making an iPhone 13 with 128GB free of charge. Trading in the iPhone XR or iPhone 11 will land you up to $400 in credit.
For existing T-Mobile customers, you can get an iPhone 13 for $514 if you trade in an iPhone 11. Get $400 in credit when you trade in an iPhone 11: you’ll get an instant trade-in credit of $185 and bill credits of $215.
Verizon is offering an iPhone 13 for $514 if you trade in a used iPhone 11 for existing customers. You’ll get $185 in instant trade-in credit and $415 in bill credits when you trade in an iPhone 11 and get the iPhone 12 on the Do More, Play More, Get More or One Unlimited rate. If you choose the iPhone 13 on the Start Unlimited rate plan, you’ll get $300 in total trade-in credit: $185 in instant trade-in credit and $115 in bill credits.
When you get a new plan and trade in your old iPhone directly from AT&T, you’ll get $550 in credit. But when you get it through Best Buy, you only get up to $500 in credit.
